Refugio R. Garza, 75, of Uvalde, Texas passed away on January 21, 2026, at Amistad Nursing Home, in Uvalde.
He was born on December 2, 1950, in Sabinas, Coahuila, Mexico to Simona (Rojas) and Heliodoro Garza.
He is survived by two sons, Refugio “Cuco” Garza” and wife, Veronica and Daniel Garza and wife, Edie all of Uvalde; three sisters, Martha Ramirez, Josefina “Pepa" Garza and Teodora Rodriguez all of Uvalde; brother, Heliodoro Garza of Uvalde; three grandchildren, Refugio Adrian Garza, Mia Celeste Garza, and Daniel J. Garza; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Petra Garza; two brothers; and four sisters.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 26, 2026, at 3 p.m. and a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
