Regina “Gina” Krueger passed away on October 2, 2025 at the Olathe Hospice House surrounded by her daughters, granddaughter Isabel, and friends.
Gina is survived by her daughters Jennifer Simon and grandchildren Isabel and Lucas. Angela Borzea (Neal Borzea) and grandchildren Garrett (Gabriella Borzea), Avery, and Laurel. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mark Krueger, grandmother, Agnes Blake, grandfather, Robert Blake, mother, Mary Jane Shunick and father, Robert Shunick.
Gina was born on March 8th, 1954, in Denver, Colorado. Her parents were Mary Jane and Robert Shunick. In addition, she spent much of her childhood with her maternal grandparents, Robert and Agnes Blake. Gina attended St. Mary's Academy in Nauvoo, Illinois for High School. She briefly went to ISU from 1974 to 1976 to study psychology. However, she met the love of her life and married Mark Krueger on May 14, 1977. Their 31-year marriage was truly the highlight of her life.
Gina was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved spending quality time with her family and friends. Her love language was cooking for them. She also loved trying new restaurants and hosting dinners. Gina also enjoyed crossword puzzles and prided herself on being able to do the New York Times crossword puzzle in pen. Gina loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially reading to them.
A celebration of life event will take place on Sunday November 2nd at 12:00 p.m. A graveside service will occur in March of 2026 at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington, Illinois.
