Regina Joette Holland, 73, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Kobacker House. She was born March 19, 1952, in Fremont, Ohio, to the late Kermit and Eulalia (Reiter) Bender.
Known to family and friends as Gina, she was the youngest of ten children and learned early to navigate life among her older siblings. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1970. Gina married Roy Holland in 1972, and the couple eventually divorced. She made a loving home for her two sons, Jeremy and Daryl, in Westerville, Ohio. Over the years, Gina worked at OSU Physicians Management Services and at Spagio’s Restaurant, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.
Her grandsons, Landen and Caleb, were the pride and joy of her life, and her love for them was boundless.
Gina had a tender heart for abandoned cats; many found refuge on her porch, where she provided a warm bed, food, and water.
In addition to her parents, Gina was predeceased by her oldest son, Jeremy Holland; a sister, Dorothy Zitzelberger; and three brothers, Kermit Bender, Jr., Robert Bender, and David Bender.
Gina is survived and deeply missed by her son Daryl (Michelle) Holland and grandsons Landen and Caleb Holland; her sisters Mary (Norm) Frey, Sheila Lucas, and Kathleen Bender; her brothers John (Carol) Bender and Joseph Bender; her daughter-in-law Cindy Holland; sister-in-law Janet Bender; many nieces and nephews; long-time family friend Suzanne Feasel, and her lifelong friend Anita Kupka.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to remember and honor Gina.
Memorial contributions can be made to Kobacker House or to the Franklin County Dog Shelter.
