Dale L. Herr

Dale L. Herr, born on June 5, 1953, in Crestline, Ohio, passed away on March 20, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio after suffering from Dementia for several years. Dale was smart and thoughtful, known for his love and dedication to his family, especially his granddaughters who meant the world to him.

A retired telecommunications installer, Dale spent his free time cherishing moments with his loved ones. He was a loving father and grandfather, always ready to spend holidays with his daughter Tori and granddaughters. He would light up with the biggest smile when seeing his granddaughters. They were his entire world. His thoughtfulness extended beyond his family. He had so much love for many friends over his decades of life.

Dale was a true music fanatic whose love for music was a constant throughout his life. From having his own band when he was younger to owning a collection of hundreds of CDs and records - it was a reflection of his passion and deep appreciation for all kinds of sound and storytelling. Every time you went to visit Dale, there was always music blasting. It brought him joy, comfort, and connection, and he rarely let a day go by without listening to music.

Dale is survived by his children, Victoria (Adam) Herr, Jacob (Sam) Herr, and Ellyse (Alec) Sparkman, his granddaughters, Aleigha Daye, Journey Roberts, and Amelia Sparkman, his brothers Dennis (Phyllis) Herr and Tom Gross, his aunt Joan Laughbaum, the mother of his children Daphne Herr, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father William Herr, his mother Mary Herr, his sister Deborah Herr, and his brother Steve Gross.

He is survived by his lifelong friends Jake, Gary, and Yvonne, whose friendships he cherished for decades. He is proceeded in death my his good friend and pastor Jeff Hubschman.

There will be a private grave side service to honor Dale. There will also be a Celebration of Life where the family will welcome all friends and family to come help remember the love and impact Dale had on everyone's lives.
