Richard William Herr

Richard William Herr, 42, of North Vernon, passed away at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Born February 13, 1984, in Seymour, he was the son of Bruce and Charity (Wilder) Herr. He married Addy Anderson on October 13, 2025, at Muscatatuck County Park in North Vernon; she survives.

Richard was a 2002 graduate of Jennings County High School. He worked for Herr Haus Recording Studio, a forklift operator at Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Seymour for ten years, a sound technician and produced music, DJ for Phat Guys and was their music coordinator, Mom's Music in Madison, and Dickie Productions. He was a member of Southern Indiana Beer Pong, and bands, Splink, Neverending Rejection and Beside Me. Richard enjoyed music, making beer, Karaoke, writing songs, cooking, playing corn hole, skateboarding, home DIY projects. He was a perfectionist in everything he did and loved spending time with his family.

Surviving with his wife, Addy, are his sons, Ezra Herr and Miles Goodman, both of North Vernon, daughters, Shealynn Herr, Scarlett Herr, and Emerald Herr, all of North Vernon; his parents, Bruce and Charity Herr of North Vernon; brother, Bruce (Dawn) Herr II of Bloomington; sisters, Anna (Jacob) Bladen and Autumn (Brian) Holmes, both of North Vernon, Angela (Tim) Graper of San Antonia, Texas, April (Thomas) Reeve of Edmonton, Canada, and Amber (Bobby) Hawkins of Westport; grandparents, Lloyd "Bill" and Mary Herr, of North Vernon; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Iva Wilder.

A memorial service for Richard will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the First Christian Church in North Vernon with the Rev. Kevin Cline officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be from 12:30 p.m. until the start of the service.

A celebration of life for Richard will be at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Phat Guys Sports Bar and Grill in North Vernon.
