Reginald Labrew Johnson, 74, a native of Welaka, was born on Saturday, September 23, 1950 to Emanuel and Mable (Jackson) Johnson. He was affectionately known as Joe. He was educated in the Putnam County School System. He was united in marriage to Joyce McRae, who preceded him in eternal rest on June 15, 2020. Joe was a member of Victory Worship Center, Crescent City, where he was ordained as a deacon under the leadership of Bishop Bernard Tuggerson. In addition to serving with the Deacon's Ministry, Joe also served with the Usher's Ministry. He was formerly employed by the local ferneries and McDonald's. He enjoyed working in his yard and lending a helping hand wherever possible. His passion for collecting unwanted treasures throughout the community led him to become a well known business owner referred to as the local Sanford & Son.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in eternal rest by his son: Marliss Johnson Sr., grandson: Larry Powell Ill, brothers: Cecil and Ralph Johnson, sisters: Eva Mae Butler, Maria Jackson, Glovine Howell, Patricia Johnson, Nellie Quanintance, Evelyn Washington and Cormeal Donaldson.
Reginald Labrew "Joe" Johnson entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at HCA Florida Putnam Hospital, Palatka.
Those who cherish his memories include: sons: Larry (Sylvia) Powell, Deland; Rodney McRae, Jacksonville; Carliss Johnson, of Daytona Beach; Reginald (Ruby) McRae, Lexington, KY; and Sgt. Shodrick (Iris) Johnson, Fort Carson, CO; brother: Alfred (Elizabeth) Johnson; brothers and sisters in-law: James Howell, Sylvester Johnson, Edna Mae (Johnny) Brown, Sandra McRae, Theodosia Johnson and Gloria Johnson; fifteen grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
