"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." – Psalm 34:18
Husband. Father. Grandpa. Brother. Veteran. Friend. Retired MSgt Reginald Willis Norman was so many things to those who loved him. On March 17, 2025, he transitioned from this life into eternity, finding rest in the presence of the Lord. Born in Benton Harbor, Michigan, he passed away in Bossier City, Louisiana, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering faith.
A devoted patriarch, Reginald is survived by his daughters, Precious Walton (Aaron), Ladda Hawkins, and Faith Norman. His memory lives on through his grandsons, Trevon Norman, Christopher Robinson Jr., Brandon Cotton, Charles Robinson, Aaden Walton, and Micheal Hawkins, as well as his granddaughter, Honor Lozano. He leaves behind his siblings, Robert L. Norman (Kerstun), Pamela Chenevert (Joseph), Darlene Holliday, Francine Norman-Jackson, and Edward Norwood Jr. He is also survived by his aunt Norma Taylor-Bishop, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Reginald is now reunited in heaven with his cherished wife, Kham K. Norman, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage, and passed away in 2024. Also preceding him in passing are his mother, Patricia Norman, his grandmother, Fannie Mae Norman, his sister, Melissa Brainard, and brothers Emmanuel and James Norman.
Reginald answered the call to serve his country in the United States Air Force, enlisting on August 24, 1971, and retiring in 1995 with honor. He was a proud Vietnam War Veteran. His dedication and perseverance inspired those around him, embodying the scripture, "Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23. His life was a testament to duty, integrity, and the strength that comes from a heart committed to others.
Beyond his military service, Reginald found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved the soothing melodies of jazz, the strategic challenge of a chess match, and the thrill of discovering the newest technology. His passion for collecting electronics was matched only by his love for creating lasting memories with his grandchildren—each moment a cherished blessing.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." – 2 Timothy 4:7.
Reginald Norman’s life was one of love, commitment, and unwavering support. He taught those around him the power of forgiveness, the importance of family, and the value of living with purpose. His warmth, wisdom, and steadfast presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on March 30, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Walking by Faith Restaurant and Catering, 5765 S Lakeshore Dr, Shreveport, LA 71119. As we gather to remember him, we take comfort in knowing that love transcends time and space, and one day, we will be reunited again.
