Reginald Ricks Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by South Carolina Cremation Society - West Columbia on Feb. 17, 2026.
Reginald Howell Ricks, of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away on February 1, 2026 at the age of 79.

Reginald was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, to the late Franklin Edward Ricks and the late Eleanor Edith Ricks. Raised with strong roots and a resilient spirit, he carried those traits throughout his life.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army. The discipline and toughness he developed in the military helped shape the man he became. As a 100% service-connected disabled veteran, he faced cancer with courage and determination. Though cancer took his voice, it never took his strength. His resilience, grit, and quiet resolve remained evident until the very end.

Reginald worked as an electrical engineer, a profession that perfectly suited his sharp mind and gifted hands. He had a natural ability to understand how things worked and took pride in building, fixing, and creating. If something was broken, he could repair it. If someone needed help, he showed up.

He was an honest man who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. His generosity was steady and sincere. He loved offshore fishing, shag dancing, and working with his hands. Whether he was out on the water, on a dance floor, or deep into a project, he was most at home when he was active and creating.

His greatest title in life was Dad. He is survived by his son, Seth Ricks, who was honored to walk beside him and care for him in his final years. He also cherished his three great-grandsons, who brought him pride and joy.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." - 2 Timothy 4:7

Reginald will be remembered for his strength, his generosity, and the steady presence he brought to those around him. Though cancer took his voice, it never took his strength, and his legacy will live on in the family he loved and the life he built.
