A memorial service is scheduled for 11 am Tuesday, July 29, at Terpening & Son Chapel for Reginald Gordon Turner of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Turner, 70, died on July 23, 2025 at his home in Artesia.

Cremation will take place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Reggie was born on March 21, 1955 in Granger, Texas; the son of Sim Turner and Nettie Sanders Turner.

He graduated from Taylor High school, where he lettered in three sports, Football, Basketball, and Track. He then went on to play collegiate football at North Texas State University for three years. He then moved to Austin where he joined the work force having several different jobs. After several years in Austin he moved to Artesia following his soon to be wife Lanette. While in Artesia he worked as maintenance hand before becoming an operator for Kerley Chemical, where he later became a plant manager. After the closure of the chemical plant he worked for a short while as and gas plant operator before retiring and picking up odd jobs to keep busy, wasn't one for staying idol. Also while in Artesia he was involved in the community, with coaching basketball, baseball, and also unofficially varsity track. He also along with Larry Mossburger and many others helped start the industal slow pitch softball league. His dedication to sports was well known and made him well known with successful little league teams and very successful slow pitch career.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Bruce Turner, and a sister Patricia Turner and Donte Turner Survivors include his wife Lanette Turner; mother Georgia Turner Mayse; sons Gabriel and Tiffany Turner, James and Christine Turner, and Jordan and Courtney Turner; a brother Greg Turner; sisters Carol Binder, Tammy McCoy, and Tavata Jackson; and by grandchildren Devin Ellis, Colbin Ellis, James Turner, Myles Turner, Carter Turner and Tatum Turner.
