Reilyn Willow Ramsay, lovingly known as R-Dub, 14, of Elmhurst, IL, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.
The sweet daughter of Roger & Amy and little sister of Charlotte & Kai, Reilyn's fun loving and thoughtful spirit will be missed immensely. She is survived by her grandparents, Sandra Reed, Wilson and Fardiah Ramsay, uncles Bob and Dave Reed and Michael "Uncle Momo" Ramsay as well as Auntie "Diddy" Lilian (Evan) Hagenaars. Her extended family "fan club" includes, aunts Carol (Glenn) Carr, Judy (John) Harshbarger and Laurie (Nick) Del Vecchio, cousins Stanley & Fedora Hagenaars, Cassie Del Vecchio, Dee (Adam), Reagan and Mary Kate Smith.
Reilyn spent her brief life trying everything she could; bmx, gymnastics, soccer, karate, cross country, track and field, softball, basketball, volleyball, girl scouts, singing, dancing and laughing all along the way. She sought to make every holiday and everyone's birthdays special. She also loved baking, making treats and small crafts for her family and friends.
Her greatest love was of animals! Her guinea pig girls, Willow Rose & Phoebe Latte already miss listening to their "mom's" favorite music (on repeat!) and watching her perfect countless TikToks. Sasha Grace and Marshmallow will miss her taking them on run/walks, rough housing and receiving one of her amazing head rubs. Reilyn often rescued injured (and sometimes not) wild animals and did the best she could to nurse them back to health. Reilyn was a very sensitive soul that felt compassion for nature and all people. She tried very hard to help others understand how deeply she felt all things.
Reilyn was excited to graduate from Churchville Middle School this spring and begin her freshman year at York High School in the fall. She will no doubt be watching and cheering on her friends as they continue on their earthly journey, content with how hers unfolded.
While short, Reilyn's life was well lived with no regrets. We have been honored to know her and will strive to keep her legacy of compassion going strong.
Reilyn's final gift to the world was that of organ donation. We know she would be proud of the opportunity to save the lives of others, bringing joy and hope to their families.
Reilyn is preceded in death by her great grandparents George & Bernice Belitz, Anna & Malcolm Ramsay, Robert W. & Irene Reed, Marisa & Emerson Salzmann as well as her grandfather, Robert W. Reed, whom she shared her initials with in tribute. They along with many great aunts, great uncles, rescue animals and pets no doubt met Reilyn with loving arms as she left us to return home.
Services to honor Reilyn's life will be held as a visitation on Wednesday, March 6th at the Elmhurst Community Funeral Home - The Ahlgrim Chapel, 567 South Spring Road, Elmhurst, from 2pm to 8pm, open to all.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Reilyn's honor either to Parent Heart Watch, the national voice protecting youth from sudden cardiac arrest or The World Wildlife Fund, as Reilyn had a particular affection for elephants.

Roger and Amy, we are so saddened to hear of your loss of your daughter. We knew you Roger and your siblings and your parents years ago. Your daughter left the earth too early. May all that she enjoyed in life and everyone that she touched stay close to your hearts. Celebrate her everyday. We pray for your strength and wish you comfort. Kind regards, Genie & Ed Polhorsky and our daughter Salem
