Hubbardston – Reinhard “Reiny” H. Rival, 72, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Central Connecticut Hospital following a sudden illness.

Born in Marktredwitz, Germany, Reiny was the cherished son of the late Raymond and Elly (Kahl) Rival. He graduated with the Class of 1971 from Quabbin Regional High School and went on to build a respected career as a skilled electrician, working for many years with National Grid.

A true outdoorsman, Reiny found joy and peace in nature. He especially loved hunting and fishing, and was a proud member of the Hubbardston Rod & Gun Club, where he leaves behind many dear friends. He had a passion for adventure, whether riding his Harley or exploring trails on his four-wheeler.

More than anything, Reiny was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His greatest pride was his family, for whom he would do anything. His warmth, loyalty, and strength will be forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 46 years, Faith (Breault) Rival; his son, Kyle Rival of Fitzwilliam, NH; his daughter, Amber Haddad and her husband, Aaron, of Hubbardston; his brothers, Gary Rival and his wife, Mary, of Barre, and Rick Rival of Swansea, NH; his sister, Rose Olson of Charlton; his adored grandchildren, Emma, Beau, Paisley, Aubree, and Wesley; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.  He was predeceased by his beloved son, Blake Rival.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Glenn Valley Cemetery, 446 Valley Road, Barre. Arrangements are entrusted to Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
