René E Larrivée

René E. Larrivée, 95, of Manchester, NH, passed away peacefully on January 26th, 2026. Born in Berlin, NH, on August 11th, 1930, he was the youngest of three children. After losing his father, Leo, at the age of three, René was lovingly raised by his uncle Omer and remained deeply close to his mother, Alexina who shaped his gentle nature and steady strength. Growing up on a farm, he learned the value of hard work early in life and carried with him a lifelong appreciation for where his food came from. Raised with French as his first language, René was proud of his French Canadian heritage.

As a young man, René served honorably with the U.S. Army Engineers during the Korean War era, working as an engineer and mechanic building military bridges in Germany. After his service, he returned home and settled in Manchester, where he started and successfully ran his own business, Larrivée Appliances. A talented and dedicated master electrician, René was known for his skill, honesty, and dependability. He was always ready to help family, friends, and neighbors with repairs—there was very little he couldn’t do.

At age 34, René married Muriel, and together they welcomed their daughter, Annette. He cherished his family deeply and later formed a close and meaningful bond with his son-in-law, Richard. René lived with quiet strength and remarkable independence, caring for his home, cooking, cleaning, and managing all aspects of daily life well into his nineties. He took pride in his independence.

René found joy in life’s simple pleasures: growing tomatoes in the summer, playing pool— where he remained nearly unbeatable well into his older years—enjoying his coffee with two creams and two sugars, reading the newspaper front to back each day, and keeping a jar of vaseline close by for any ailment. He loved taking photographs, preserving memories from his childhood, military service, and family life, and he was a gifted storyteller who delighted in sharing those memories with anyone who would listen.

Above all, René’s greatest joy was being a grandfather. He treasured his time with his three grandchildren, Nicholas, Jenna, and Nathan, and he loved babysitting them during their younger years. They remained the light of his life, filling his later years with laughter, pride, and companionship.

René lived a long and full life marked by love, faith, hard work, and devotion to family. He will be remembered with deep gratitude by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his daughter, Annette Greer; his son-in-law, Richard; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Jenna, and Nathan; and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel; his parents; and his siblings, O’Neil and Dora.

SERVICES: There will be no calling hours. Services will be held on Tuesday, February 3rd at 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 9 Saint Francis Way, Litchfield, NH. Immediately following the funeral Mass, military honors and the cemetery committal will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Road, Manchester, NH.  Memorial lunch to follow at the puritan event center. 245 Hooksett Rd, Manchester, NH 03104.
