Rena Moss Obituary
McGee's Crossroads, NC: Mrs. Rena Rose Tart Moss, age 90, of Highway 50 N. passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield with her family by her side. Graveside Funeral Service will be held-11:00 AM Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Roselawn Cemetery in Benson. Officiating will be Rev. Billy Cashwell.
Rena was born on June 7, 1933 in Johnston County to the late Elijah Preston and Rovene Jones Tart. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cary Moss; sons, Gerald Moss and Joel Moss; and several brothers and sisters. Prior to retirement, she worked at Westinghouse. Rena grew up farming in Johnston County, one of thirteen children. She was strong willed, intelligent, and full of life. She loved music, especially Tom Jones, loved to dance, play poker, and could cook or bake anything but was famous for her chocolate pies and fudge.
Survivors include her daughter, Gail Moss Pleasants; son, Clifton Andrew Moss and wife, Shary; daughter-in-law, Shelby Moss; grandchildren, Lisa Pleasants and husband, Sam, Bryan Pleasants and wife, Jessica, Brett Moss and wife, Sarah, and Kyle Moss and wife, Danielle; great grandchildren, James, Emma, Ruth, Jessie, Benjamin, Thomas, Parker, Jake, and Kyler; sisters, Evelyn Galleo, Carmel Harts, and Jeanette Thornton; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service at Roselawn Cemetery.
