Rena Pratcher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Robbins Brothers Funeral Home - Benton Harbor on Oct. 27, 2025.
Today, we celebrate the beautiful life of Rena Evette Pratcher.
Rena was born on December 25, 1967, in Chicago, Illinois. She was cherished by her parents George and Mary Harvell. She was a devoted mother, amazing daughter, supportive sister, fun aunt, and nurturing grandmother. Rena passed away peacefully at her home in Battle Creek, Michigan, on October 21, 2025.
Rena graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1986 and she was a proud member of the Benton Harbor "Tigers" Marching band. After graduating, she embarked on a journey of dedication and service, proudly serving in the United States Army. Following her military service, Rena returned to Benton Harbor, Michigan, where she met and married the love of her life, Kelvin Pratcher. Together, they built a beautiful family and later settled in Battle Creek, Michigan, where they shared many wonderful years until Kelvin's passing on October 24, 2016.
While in Battle Creek, Rena continued her education and earned an Associate Degree in General Education from Davenport College. She dedicated her career to helping others, working as a Care Manager at three facilities that served adults with physical and mental disabilities. Rena took great pride in her role, caring for each individual with compassion and dedication, until she retired due to health reasons.
Rena was a beautiful soul-kindhearted, selfless, and full of love. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a loyal friend. Her family was her heart, and her friends brought her joy. She gave freely of herself, always putting others first, and had a special gift for making everyone around her feel seen, valued, and loved. Her laughter and radiant smile were contagious, and her strength inspired those she loved through life's hardest moments.
She will forever be remembered not only for what she did, but for who she was. Her legacy lives on through the love she shared and the many lives she touched.
Rena leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Terrence Harvell of Battle Creek MI. and Kelvin Pratcher Jr. of South Bend IN; her daughters, Verlira Pratcher of Battle Creek MI, and Kelvesha Pratcher of Grand Rapids MI; her parents, George (Mary) Harvell; her sisters, Yolanda (Daryl) Gill, Kimberly Harvell of Benton Harbor MI. and Angela Carson of Chicago Il; brothers, Anthony (Michelle) Harvell of Kalamazoo MI, Donsha Tucker of Atlanta GA; grandchildren:, Ava Denise, Reu'Mani Reign, Da'Nasiaa, London, Kelvin III, Aaliyah, Kennidi, Adonis, Kelmariya, Corey, Mark and Jy'Aire; special friends: Michelle Charles, Genette Pratcher, and Rohnette McKinney and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family.
Rena was preceded in death by her beloved husband Kelvin Pratcher, her son Kenneth Wayne Pratcher, sister Latonya Maxwell and Ottis Gillian.
Her light will forever shine in our hearts.
"To know her was to love her, and to be loved by her was a blessing."
