Rene Diaz, a beloved lifelong resident of Three Rivers, Texas, passed away in San Antonio on December 23, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on May 13, 1963, in Three Rivers, to Daniel Diaz and Ofelia (Garcia) Diaz, he was a proud graduate of Three Rivers High School and dedicated his life to the construction industry as a carpenter, a profession in which he took great pride. His favorite role was being a wonderful father and an adoring grandpa to his son and grandson.
Rene was a cancer survivor who fought bravely for three years before entering a year of remission. Throughout his life, he found joy in simple pleasures. He had a green thumb and loved working in his yard, often watching the wildlife on his property. He enjoyed socializing and attending the Coffee Club to catch up on gossip from his sisters, cousins and friends. In addition, he cherished his vast collection of DVDs and enjoyed watching them repeatedly. He also found joy in family outings to Ching Ching's.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Ofelia Diaz; his brother-in-law, Foxie Moya; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Survivors include his cherished son, Arick (Leslie) Diaz, and his beloved grandson, Hayzen Diaz. He leaves behind two sisters, Elda Moya and Becky (George) Lopez; four brothers, Fernando (Sylvia) DeLeon, Francisco DeLeon, Freddie Diaz and Danny (Rebecca) Diaz; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his partner of 25 years, Lydia Harrin.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2025, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Three Rivers with a Rosary led by Father Romeo Salinas at 7 o’clock.
The funeral service will be conducted there at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 30, with Father Romeo Salinas officiating.
Burial will follow in the Three Rivers Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chendo Moya, Danny Diaz, Gilbert DeLeon, Lucas Diaz, Brandon Harrin, Johnny Saenz, George Saenz and Adam Martinez.
