Robert L. Garcia, beloved companion, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, at his home in Sandia, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. He was 71.
Robert was born October 15, 1954, in Three Rivers to Elidio H. Garcia and Dolores (Longoria) Garcia. His career began in the construction industry, where he contributed to the development of many projects. He also spent many years operating a successful lawn business, enjoying yard work that showed his love for nature and the outdoors. A man of many interests, Robert delighted in hunting and cherished the time spent with family. He also found joy in playing bingo, often gathering with family and friends for friendly competition and laughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elidio and Dolores Garcia; two brothers, David L. Garcia and Elidio H. Garcia Jr.; and a sister, Olivia Stendebach.
Left behind to cherish fond memories include his beloved lifelong companion of 33 years, Elda DeLeon. He was the proud father of Melanie (Adrian) Balderrama and a devoted stepfather to Armando (Marta) DeLeon, Jason (Jeanette) DeLeon and James (Norma) DeLeon. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Zachary and Avery Balderrama, Trey Byers, Seth and Evin Smith and step-grandchildren, Jason Jr., Jaidene, Jeralyn, Layla, Ariana, Araceli, Armando III, Madison and Hailey DeLeon. Also missing their brother are two sisters, Lydia (Larry) White and Diana Salazar; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, November 7, at St. George Catholic Church with a Rosary to be recited at 7 o’clock that evening.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 8, with Father Raju D. Thottankara officiating. Burial will follow in the Three Rivers Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Ray Garcia Jr., Zachary Balderrama, James DeLeon, Armando DeLeon Jr., Luis Garcia, Thomas Garcia, Matthew Quintanilla and Bubba Garcia.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ruben Gonzalez and George Garza.
