Renee A. Costa

Renee A. (Melucci) Costa, age 72 of West Warwick, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. She was surrounded by her loving family as her husband sang her a song they wrote together. Born in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Dolores (Chicoine) Melucci. She was the cherished wife of Albert P. Costa.
Employed by Lifespan for over 20 years, Renee worked there until her retirement. It was during her time there that she met Al, her devoted partner and husband of 33 years. Renee also worked as a bartender at Melucci's Wilde Goose restaurant in South Attleboro, which was owned and operated by her family. A talented lyricist, she loved music and had a special love of country music. She enjoyed trips to the casino and playing cards with her family, especially hi-lo jack. Her sense of humor was dry and hysterical, but paled in comparison to her kindness and generosity. Her family and friends were the light of her life and she will be deeply missed by many.
In addition to her husband, Albert, she is survived by her children: Michelle Gaspar and Neil Costa (Jennifer); three grandchildren: Jacklyn Martino, Lexis Costa, and Icesis Lamantia; three siblings: Donald Melucci, Michael Melucci, and Marian Melucci (John Andrade); maternal uncle: Joseph Ronald Chicoine; several nieces and nephews: Glen LaPlante, Angela Melucci, Cory Melucci, Garrett Melucci (Marlene), Michael Melucci, Alex Melucci, Casey Melucci (Briana), and Nathan Melucci (Heidi); life-long loved ones: Linda Masse, Roy Gaspar, Shirley Gaspar, Ronald Labossiere, and Sandra Mellen; and her best friend, Princess the pitbull. Among the loved ones she meets in Heaven are: her parents: Eddie and Dolores Melucci; niece: Sandy LaPlante; Marion "Memere" Delorme; Scott Bennett; and her newest angel, Melissa Picard.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 15 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich, West Warwick. A Catholic prayer service will immediately follow at 7:00 PM.
