Benson, NC: Mrs. Reta J. Johnson, age 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 18, 2023. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM-Thursday, December 21, 2023 at St. Mary’s Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church, Benson, NC. Officiating will be Revs. Wesley Taylor and David Langley. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Benson, NC.
Mrs. Johnson was born on November 15, 1935 in Johnston County, NC to the late Elam Perry Johnson and Virginia Stephenson Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Billy Hayes Johnson, sister, Carolyn J. Wheeler, and brothers, Stacy L. Johnson and Billy Dean Johnson. Mrs. Johnson retired from the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. She was also a homemaker, and member of St. Mary’s Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church, Benson, NC.
Survivors include her sons, Stephen Johnson of Benson, NC and Stanley Johnson of Four Oaks, NC; grandchildren, Sydney Johnson of Raleigh, NC, Claire Johnson of Nashville, TN, and Grayson Johnson of Four Oaks, NC; sisters-in-law, Jean Johnson of Newton Grove, NC, Janice Johnson of Four Oaks, NC, and Lou Johnson of Willow Spring, NC; brother-in-law, Eugene Montague of Lillington, NC; special loving nieces, Kathy Perry and Debbie Brady; many other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:30PM-1:45PM, Thursday, December 21, 2023 in the Sanctuary of St. Mary’s Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church, Benson, NC, and other times at the home.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to all the special caregivers that shared their love and support to Mrs. Johnson.
