Rev. James N. "Jimmy" Gunter, Jr., age 85, beloved husband of the late Elizabeth "Gail" Beal Gunter, entered into rest on Friday June 27, 2025.

He is survived by his daughters, Debra Yon, Darlene Lindsay; grandchildren, Andrew (Lisa) Gunter, Zachary (Amanda) Gunter; Shelly Yon, Josh (Samantha) Yon; daughter in law, Leslie B. Gunter; great grandchildren, Breanna Gunter, Roman Gunter, Judah Gunter, Asher Gunter, Gabe Gunter, Emerson Yon and Liam Yon.

In addition to his wife he is preceded in death by his parents, James "Newton" and Mozell Haigler Gunter; son, James Russell Gunter; daughter, Doris Gunter; sons in law Mark Yon, Randy Lindsay; and sisters, Janice Storey, Ruby "Tina" Ferrell.

Rev. Gunter worked in his earlier years for Graniteville Company as a Loom Fixer. He went on to attend the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and pastored several church during the course of his ministry as he also served in leadership in the Southern Baptist Denomination. Rev. Gunter is a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Graniteville. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched during his life and ministry.

A funeral service honoring his life and legacy will be held on Wednesday July 2, 2025 at Calvary Baptist Church in Graniteville, SC at 11AM with Pastor George Johnson officiating. The interment to follow at the Historic Graniteville Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be: Andrew Gunter, Zachary Gunter, Robby Kissiah, Erik Riddell, Keith Rushton and Josh Yon.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Aiken Regional Medical Centers and Aiken Rehab Doctors, Nurses and Staff for their care of Rev. Gunter.
