Rev. Padre José Alfredo Gaytán, S.O.L.T.
“Papa”

"Tú eres sacerdote para siempre, según el orden de Melquisedec" Hebreos 7:17 El 16 de julio del 2025, en la Fiesta de la Virgen del Carmen, fue llamado a la patria celestial el Rev. Padre José Alfredo Gaytán, S.O.L.T., a la edad de 83 años, en la Ciudad de Laredo, Texas, rodeado por oraciones y apoyo de la comunidad que él sirvió por más de 40 años.
El Padre José nació el 25 de abril de 1942 en San Luis Potosí, México. A temprana edad el fue llamado a servir al Señor en su Santa Madre Iglesia Católica y Apostólica, siendo ordenado al sacerdocio el 2 de enero de 1982 para la Diócesis de Matamoros, Tamaulipas, México. En el 1996, el entro a la Orden de la Sociedad de Nuestra Señora de la Santísima Trinidad en Corpus Christi, Texas, haciendo sus promesas perpetuas el 1 de enero del 2001. En el año 2000, cuando su Santidad el Santo Papa Juan Pablo II estableció la Diócesis de Laredo, la orden le dio el cargo de la Parroquia de Mother Cabrini en el oeste de Laredo, Texas. Esta fue su casa por 16 años, creando y fortaleciendo a una comunidad que todavía lo recuerdan y lo aman.
Padre José era un hijo de Dios fiel y servidor al igual que un gran devoto a Nuestra Madre María Santísima. Que dichoso el día en que fue llamado a la patria celestial. Nos fortalecemos en nuestra fe y la esperanza de la resurrección que el ya goza con Dios Todopoderoso.
Le acompañan en duelo sus hermanos y hermanas: Celia Gaytán, Roberto Gaytán, Clemente Gaytán, + Carlos Gaytán, +Amelia Gaytán, +Guadalupe Gaytán, + Olivia Gaytán, +Dora María Gaytán, al igual que sus fieles amigos que le brindaron ese apoyo fraternal: Leonardo L. (Deborah Rivas) García, sus adorados nietos de crianza, Pio García, Justin García, Maximiliano García, sus hermanos de la Orden de la Sociedad de Nuestra Señora de la Santísima Trinidad, todos los fieles de la Parroquia de Mother Cabrini.
El pésame se recibe el viernes 18 de julio del 2025 a partir de las 4 de la tarde hasta las 9 de la noche en la Funeraria Hillside, 310 W. Hillside Rd., donde se ofrecerá la Liturgia de la Vigilia y Rosario a las 7 de la noche.
Se celebrará una Misa de Cuerpo Presente el sábado 19 de julio del 2025 en la Parroquia de Mother Cabrini; 3018 Davis Ave; Laredo, TX 78041 a las 10 de la mañana. Se les pide reunirse en la parroquia antes de la misa, puesto que no habrá un cortejo.
Todas las honras darán por concluidas después de la misa para pasar a su cremación. Sus cenizas quedaran depositadas en la Iglesia de María Esperanza Nuestra en Monterrey, Nuevo León, México.

"You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek" Hebrews 7:17 On July 16, 2025, on the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Rev. Father José Alfredo Gaytán, S.O.L.T., was called to his heavenly home at the age of 83 in Laredo, Texas, surrounded by the prayers and support of the community he served for over 40 years.
Father José was born on April 25, 1942, in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. At an early age, he was called to serve the Lord in His Holy Mother, the Catholic and Apostolic Church, and was ordained to the priesthood on January 2, 1982, for the Diocese of Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. In 1996, he entered the Order of the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity in Corpus Christi, Texas, making his perpetual promises on January 1, 2001. In 2000, when His Holiness Saint John Paul II established the Diocese of Laredo, the order gave him charge of Mother Cabrini Parish in West Laredo, Texas. This was his home for 16 years, creating and strengthening a community that still remembers and loves him.
Father José was a faithful and servant of God, as well as a great devotee of Our Blessed Mother Mary. How blessed the day he was called to his heavenly home. We are strengthened in our faith and the hope of the resurrection that he already enjoys with Almighty God.
He is accompanied in mourning by his brothers and sisters: Celia Gaytán, Roberto Gaytán, Clemente Gaytán, Carlos Gaytán, Amelia Gaytán, Guadalupe Gaytán, Olivia Gaytán, and Dora María Gaytán, as well as by his faithful friends who offered him fraternal support: Leonardo L. (Deborah Rivas) García, his beloved foster grandchildren, Pio García, Justin García, Maximiliano García, his brothers of the Order of the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity, and all the faithful of Mother Cabrini Parish.
Condolences will be received on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Hillside Funerals and Cremations, 310 W. Hillside Rd., Laredo, TX 78041, where the Vigil Liturgy and Rosary will be offered at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at St. Francis “Mother” Cabrini Catholic Church; 3018 Davis Ave; Laredo, TX 78041 at 10:00 a.m. Everyone is asked to meet at the parish church before Mass, as there will be no funeral procession.
All funeral services will conclude after Mass, with cremation to follow and his ashes will be laid to rest at María Esperanza Nuestra Catholic Church in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico.
