Rev. Millard J. Johnson, age 88, Fall Branch, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Millard trusted Christ at age 11 in 1948 under the pastoral ministry of Rev. Worley Fleenor. He went on to pastor churches of 29 congregations in Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia. He attended Carson Newman University and graduated from East Tennessee State University. Millard also took pastoral studies at Duke University.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Margaret Mitchell; parents; one brother; and one sister.
Millard is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dortha Johnson; daughter, Becky McGuire (Jim); grandchildren, Phillip Renfro (Lizaiha), Brian Renfro (Alicia), Julia Hopson (friend, Casey Pate), Crystal O’Dell (John), Darrell Miller and Katelyn Edwards; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am – 11:00am on Friday, August 22, 2025 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. A service will follow at 11:00am with Rev. Sam Ferguson, Rev. Lisa Bryant and Rev. Scott Spence officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday at Evergreen Cemetery, Erwin, Tennessee.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
