Reverend Richard Jerome Hart

Father Richard Hart, 81, of Augusta, GA, entered into his eternal rest on November 1, 2025.

Born in Denver, Colorado on July 16, 1944, he was the son of the late Vivienne (Sherwood) Hart. Rich attended college in San Diego where he received a degree in Chemistry. After graduation, he worked as a chemist and engineer for Shell Corp for 12 years before moving to Augusta, GA to join the Alleluia Community.

While in Augusta, he taught at the Alleluia Community School and ran a Christian men’s household until he entered the Catholic seminary and became an ordained priest in 2001. He served as parochial vicar at St Mary on the Hill Catholic Church in Augusta, then as pastor at Immaculate Conception Church in Dublin, GA and their mission parish, St. Williams, in Sandersville, GA. While in Dublin, he oversaw the building of their new church.

After retiring from the priesthood, Father Rich moved back to Augusta for his remaining years.

Father Rich loved cooking, coin collecting, and a good mystery. He also loved his faith and was the inspiration for many vocations within the Church.

A private interment will be held in Savannah, GA.
