Rex Eugene Allen

Rex Eugene Allen, age 71, of Freeport, Michigan, passed away on February 7, 2026. He was born December 5, 1954, in Hastings, Michigan, the son of Wayne Adelbert and Alice Ann (Eaton) Allen.

Rex graduated from Thornapple Kellogg High School in 1974 and went on to work for many years at Bradford White. He was well known for his love of Pontiac automobiles and took great pride in owning, showing, and working on his cars. Rex enjoyed attending car shows and spending time in the garage, where he was always tinkering and keeping busy with automotive projects. In addition to his mechanical talents, he also liked to draw, a hobby that allowed him to express his creativity. His passions were a defining part of his life and something he gladly shared with others.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Rex is survived by his children, Jamie Lee (Terra) Allen, Steven Allen, and Kenneth (Jamie) Allen; his grandchildren, Rian, Ethan, and Kayle; and his siblings, Richard (Chris) Allen, Ken Allen, Connie Allen, and Bonnie (Timothy) Lokken. He will be remembered for his creativity, his love of classic cars, and the time he spent with family and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are provided by Girrbach Funeral Home of Hastings, Michigan. Online condolences may be left for the family at the funeral home’s website.
