Carl Paul Leonard, age 55, of Middleville, Michigan, was born November 2, 1970, in Hastings, the son of Dick and Linda (Thompson) Leonard. He passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side on January 28, 2026, after a tough battle with cancer.
Carl worked at Bradford White and remained dedicated to his job until his illness left him unable. He enjoyed trips to the casino, hunting, fishing, reading a variety of novels, and relaxing with a good movie. Above all, he cherished time with his daughters and especially with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed going to Pittsburgh Pirates games with his youngest daughter Emily.
In a final act of generosity, Carl donated his corneas through the Michigan Eye Bank, giving the gift of sight to others.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and by his mother, Linda (Thompson) Schultz, who passed away just hours before him, and was there to greet him on the other side.
Carl is survived by his father, Dick Leroy Leonard; daughters Star (Jay Smith) Leonard Smith and Emily (Steve Patrick) Leonard; siblings Carol (David) Leonard Ellsworth, and Samantha (Justin) Leonard Adams; grandchildren Catey Sanborn and Mateo Leonard Smith; nieces and nephews Candice George, William George, and Devin George; and extended family. He is also survived by his ex wife and beloved friend, Krista Elko.
