William Patrick Rountree of Hastings, Michigan, passed away on March 6, 2026, in Hastings at the age of 63. He was born September 5, 1962, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of William Frederick and Nancy Jean (McPherson) Rountree.
William attended Hastings High School, where he enjoyed playing football. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, and spent many happy hours fishing and hunting. He also had a passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and was a loyal Detroit Lions fan. In quieter moments, he enjoyed watching classic Western movies. Working as a blacksmith at Charlton Park was a craft he truly enjoyed. He also had a special place in his heart for family pets.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur and Laura McPherson; his father, William Rountree; his beloved daughter, Nicole Elaine Dodd, lovingly known as “Daddy’s little girl”; and his niece, Kristen Miller.
William is survived by his mother, Nancy Edwards; his sons, William Rountree and Gary Rountree; his sister, Karrie (Rountree) Miller; and his nieces, Melissa, Jackie, Caitlin, and Rebecca, aunt Reta Leinaar and uncle Rudy McPherson.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Girrbach Funeral Home, 328 S. Broadway St., Hastings, MI 49058. Visitation will be held one hour prior beginning at 5:00 p.m. Dinner will follow the service in the funeral home lunch room.

William will be remembered for his love of family, friends, the outdoors, and the simple joys of life.
