Richard Clark Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beeler-Gores Funeral Home on Mar. 5, 2026.
Dr. Richard Douglas Clark passed into the arms of the Lord on March 4, 2026, in Middleville, Michigan, with his family by his side. Born on August 28, 1932, in Hastings, Michigan, he was the son of James and Lula (Finkbeiner) Clark.

Dr. Clark is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Beverly (Gleason) Clark, and their children: Greg (Cheryl) Clark, Doug (Gina) Clark, Sue Clark-Granger, Scott (Jennifer) Clark, and Jill (Scott) Spinney. His life was further enriched by the joy of 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sisters, Ruth Anne Parks and Kathryn (Ralph) Kornoely, along with several nieces and nephews. Dr. Clark was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lula (Finkbeiner) Clark, his son Steven Clark, his grandson Tanner Rogers, and brother-in-law, Ozzie Parks.

An alumnus of Thornapple-Kellogg High School, class of 1950, Dr. Clark pursued his passion for veterinary medicine at Michigan State University, where he earned both his undergraduate and doctorate degrees by 1956. His career began at the State of Michigan as a livestock inspector, but his entrepreneurial spirit led him to start Clark Veterinary in Hastings, Michigan, in 1961. He provided unwavering care to the community's animals until his retirement in 1997.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Clark was deeply involved in his community. He was a dedicated Cub Scout leader, a devout member of Hastings First Presbyterian Church since 1961, and served on many church committees. His commitment to service was further demonstrated through his active participation in the Hastings Rotary Club. Dr. Clark's interests also included fishing, traveling with his wife, and spending precious time outdoors, where he found great solace and joy.

Dr. Clark's family will receive friends on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Hastings First Presbyterian Church from 9:00 AM -11:00 AM with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 AM, Pastor Nick Marlatt officiating. Luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Mel Trotter Ministry, Hastings First Presbyterian Church, or Tanner's SPRK on the World will be appreciated.
