Rex Herbert Coultrip, 80, of Mustang, OK, formerly of Somonauk, IL passed away peacefully on Monday, August 4th. He was born February 3rd, 1945 in Sandwich, IL the son of Lewis H. and Vada Ellen (Blythe) Coultrip. He married his high school sweetheart, Sally on April 15th, 1966 in Monmouth NJ. Rex served in the Army from October 1965 to October 1968. After his honorable discharge, he went to work for the telephone company for forty-two years, retiring in 2008. Rex could build, fix or repair most anything and enjoyed helping his family and community with his many talents.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Sally Ann Coultrip. His family takes great comfort in knowing they are together again.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Coultrip of Edmond, Ok; one son Brad (Debbie) Coultrip of Mansfield, Tx; two grandchildren, Amanda (Kris) Lehner, and Justin (Jessi) Coultrip; seven great-grandchildren Baiden, Ainzley, Marley, Scarlett, Presley, Ty and Cash; three sisters Mary Ellen McDowell of Danville, IL, formerly Leland, Margaret Ostrum of DeKalb, IL and Helen (Ben) Kerr of Earlville, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL. Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to donors’ choice.
