Rex Isbell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holt Memorial Chapel - Harrison on Jan. 25, 2026.
Rex Gerald Isbell, 72, of Harrison, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026, at his home.

He was born July 18, 1953, at Wheaton, Illinois, to Gerald Lewis and Geraldine Cottingim Isbell. Rex proudly served his country in the United States Navy, retiring with the rank of E7 after a distinguished career in explosive ordnance disposal. His service was a source of great pride, and he carried that dedication and work ethic into every area of his life. On April 13, 2000, he married Ms. Lori Lee Burnett at Marble Falls, and the two shared a wonderful life together. In his free time, Rex enjoyed mowing and trimming trees, going "junking," and hunting for unique treasures. He loved buying and selling and owned several antique stores in the area over the years, making many friendships along the way and always enjoying a good deal and a good conversation. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George Isbell; and two sisters, Sierra Martin and Tana Carr.

He is survived by his wife, Lori Isbell of Harrison; three sons, Jason Isbell of St. Petersburg, Florida; Chance Isbell of Florida; and Josh Isbell of Jacksonville, Florida; a daughter, Shauna Isbell of Harrison; two step-children, Jay (Stephanie) Dyer of Russellville and Dustie (Michael) Fogerty of Eatonville, Washington; his grandchildren, Kayla, Lauren, Jonah, Jeriah, Jagger, and J. J. Isbell, Rowan and Conlan Fogerty, and Hunter Dyer; three brothers, Buck Isbell of Harrison, Scott Isbell of Jonesboro, and Kirk Isbell of Texas; a sister, Cheryl Isbell of Harrison; several special nephews and nieces; and other relatives and friends.

There are no services planned at this time. Rex will be buried at sea at a future date. Arrangements are under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.

I worked with Rex for several years at Buffalo National River. He was a hard working man, but had a great sense of humor and was fun to work with. If something needed to be done, you could count on him to get it done. Lori, Buck and family, we are praying for you all.

Thinking of Rex and his family during these times. Enjoyed my time with him at the Harrison Police Department.
Rex was always kind and respectful to anyone he met. God Bless you Rex.

Rest in peace, Rex.
My condolences to the family and friends.
Rex and I kept in touch when he was in the Navy and he sent me a beautiful binder of photos, coins and Navy patches from his travels and experiences. Rex was one of a kind and he will be missed. With love, Tommy, Anna and Toby.
