Rex Dewayne Rodgers, age 93, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on October 6, 2025. Born on March 7, 1932, in Milford, Utah, Rex was the son of Willis Huish Rodgers and Susie Afton Gillins (Rodgers).
On January 21, 1953, Rex married his high school sweetheart, Verna “Laurea” Leavitt, in Las Vegas. As a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rex was sealed to Laurea in the Las Vegas temple following her passing, honoring their eternal bond.
Rex proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army and survived combat during the Korean War.
A lifelong barber in Las Vegas, Rex was passionate about his craft. He regularly attended hair shows to refine his skills and stay current in his profession. He was also a talented handyman who loved building and creating—he even constructed a garage at the age of 75. A dedicated Dodgers fan, one of Rex’s fondest memories, was witnessing Sandy Koufax pitch a no-hitter, a moment he cherished throughout his life.
Rex is survived by his four children: Debbie Joy Pettit, Annie (Ernie) Rodgers, Julie Lee, and David (Jillian) Rodgers; his sister Donna Gubler; five grandchildren: Melissa (Jeff) Bracken, Chad Rodgers, Shelbie (Steven) Coyne, Brandon Lee and Molly Lee; and five great-grandchildren: Tyler and Noah Bracken, Stetson and Slater Coyne, and Rhys Rodgers.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 400 South Water Street, Henderson, NV 89015. Burial with military honors will follow at 12:00 PM at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Nevada Hwy, Boulder City, NV 89005.
