Linda Lou Bastin Rodgers, 84, of McEwen, TN, went to be with the Lord on October 11, 2025. Linda was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
She is preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband of 56 years, Keith Herbert Rodgers, who passed away in March; her father, Karl Osbie Bastin; her mother, Annie Florise (Ary) Bastin; her brother Tommy Bastin; and her sister Betty Patton.
Linda is survived by her children, her son Mike (Annetta) Mathis of Athens, AL; her daughter Tracey (Travis) Teichmann of Nashville, TN; four grandchildren, Lindsay Mathis, Alex Mathis, Mitchell Mathis, and Claire Teichmann, and her sister, Katherine Schaper.
Linda was born on July 25, 1941, to Karl and Annie Bastin in Flatwoods, TN. She graduated as Valedictorian from Linden High School in 1959. She lived in Nashville and worked at First American Bank as a teller and then later as a homemaker.
Linda married Keith Herbert Rodgers on May 22, 1968, and they made their home in McEwen, TN. They raised two children, Mike Mathis and Tracey Teichmann. Linda was a faithful member of the McEwen Church of Christ and loved her church family, and served as a teacher for many years. She loved her family and friends and was always willing to help serve at church or cook a meal. Linda enjoyed her monthly meetings and friends in the FCE club for many years, serving as the secretary and wrote articles for the newspaper. Linda enjoyed having a big garden to harvest and can vegetables every summer. She could grow any flower, shrub, or plant in her yard and always had numerous flower beds and pots filled with beautiful flowers. She was a very talented seamstress and was always sewing. She was an excellent cook (the best according to Claire), and you knew there would be a big meal prepared for your visit. She enjoyed going to the farm with Keith, trips with her family and any time she was surrounded with family, she would love a game night. She would love to sit down and read to Claire, teach her how to cook, and they always had a craft or crochet project they would work on together. Above all, she cherished God. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation with the Rodgers family will be on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm, at McEwen Church of Christ. A celebration of life will follow at 1:00 pm. The burial will take place at McEwen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the McEwen Church of Christ.
