Rhada Florine (Zellers) Gladfelter, age 93, of Dallastown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Seaton Springwood. Born in the quiet town of Winterstown, she was the daughter of the late Thomas A. and Florence M. (Mundis) Zellers. She was the devoted wife of the late Donald E. "Foot" Gladfelter, who preceded her in death on February 17, 2015.
Rhada's journey began with a Red Lion High School diploma in 1949 and led her through decades of service, hard work, and passion. She began her career in a local sewing factory during the 1950s, later joining Dentsply. From 1961 to 1969, she and Foot ran D & R Shoe Store in Dallastown-an endeavor that reflected their shared commitment and spirit. After the store doors closed, Rhada found purpose working at Flinchbaugh's and ultimately retired from Columbia Products in 1992.
But Rhada's life was never defined solely by work-it was deeply rooted in faith, family, fellowship, and fun.
A lifelong member of Winterstown United Methodist Church, she was a trailblazer and a cornerstone of her spiritual community. Rhada was the first woman to serve as a trustee, and for over 30 years, she managed the finances of the United Methodist Women's group. For 25 years, she was known as the "Chief Cook," nourishing both body and spirit at countless church gatherings. She taught Vacation Bible School, sang joyfully with the Ladies Chorus, planned progressive dinners, served on the Kitchen Band, and gave her heart to Shining Light Ministries.
Rhada lived fully and freely. An avid bowler at Lion Bowl in Red Lion, she embraced community and competition with equal joy. For 20 years, her antique booth-DNR Collectibles-was a staple at the Red Lion Antique Co-Op. Every summer, she proudly hosted what became known as the "Largest Yard Sale in Dallastown", turning her home into a local landmark. She was also an enthusiastic collector, especially of memorabilia dedicated to her hero, Cal Ripken Jr., the "Orioles' Iron Man."
She cherished the simple joys: afternoons playing dominoes or cards, puzzles spread across her table, laughter echoing from family get-togethers at her beloved cabin in Caledonia-fondly known as "Gladys Gables." Her life philosophy was as clear as it was infectious: "Always have fun!"
Rhada's light will continue to shine in the hearts of her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Ann McGinnis, and her husband, Kenton "Buddy" McGinnis; her daughter-in-law, Debra Shultz; her nephew, Dana Godfrey; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Dennis E. Gladfelter, her sister L. Arlene Godfrey, and by her dear companions, Leon "Jake" Geesey and Joe Persing, whose presence brought warmth and comfort in her later years.
A celebration of Rhada's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Winterstown United Methodist Church, 12184 Winterstown Road, Felton, with Rev. Becky McGee officiating. Interment will follow in Winterstown United Brethren Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Rhada's memory with contributions to the Winterstown United Methodist Church Capital Fund, 12184 Winterstown Road, Felton, PA 17322.

Growing up, Rhada was my Mom's best friend and one of my favorite people. Our families were always together. Baseball, cards, games, food and vacations were plentiful. These are precious memories that still make me smile.I always thought of Mom and Rhada as Lucy and Ethel because they were always laughing and having so much fun. So happy I got to see Rhada one last time when I was in PA. She was a great lady.
