Rhea H. Phillips, 82, entered into rest on September 16, 2025. She was born on July 10, 1943, in Covington, Kentucky, to the late John and Mary Carter Houck. During her childhood, her family relocated to Warner Robins, Georgia. Rhea graduated from Warner Robins High School in 1961, where she was celebrated as an all-star basketball player. She carried that same energy, determination, and joyful spirit into all aspects of her life.
Rhea married her lifelong love, John, in 1963, and lived in various locations throughout her husband’s United States Air Force career. Upon his retirement from the USAF, she returned to Warner Robins.
Rhea was a woman of many talents and passions. She loved sewing, quilting, and square dancing, as well as traveling—especially enjoying cruises. Her faith was central to her life, and she was deeply involved in Bible study and the Walk to Emmaus. A devoted member of Trinity United Methodist Church, she found joy in fellowship and service. Rhea was involved in Girl Scouts when her daughters were young and was involved with their various activities.
Above all, Rhea’s greatest delight was her family. She cherished time spent spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her beloved dog Rosie was always by her side.
Rhea will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, and the love she poured into the lives of everyone she touched.
In addition to her parents, Rhea was preceded by her loving husband of 60 years, John Phillips; and nephew, John Louis Houck, III.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her daughters, Jackie Phillips-Thames (Kasey) and Cindy Phillips-Davis; grandchildren, David Davis (Jennifer), Betsy Manley (Eric), Bobby Thames (Kelsey), Joshua Davis (Carolina), Carter Thames (Erica), and Sarah Chapman; nine great-grandchildren; and siblings, John Louis Houck II (Peggy) and Denise Houck Bundy.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and staff at The Phoenix at Lake Joy, as well as the compassionate nurses of Family Hospice, for the loving care and support they provided to Rhea and her family.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating Rhea’s life will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, the family will lay her to rest privately at Magnolia Park Cemetery.
For friends unable to attend at this time, the service will be streamed live at https://www.youtube.com/@McCulloughFuneralHome via the McCullough Funeral Home’s YouTube page.
