Rhea Walton Worthington, 85 of Cordele passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Crisp Regional Nursing and Rehab. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service Tuesday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Rainey Family Funeral Services. Born in Lumpkin, he was the son of the late Samuel Walton Worthington and Julia Evelyn Gilbert Worthington. He was also preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Mary Ruth Martin Worthington and a brother, Samuel Walton Worthington, Jr. Rhea served his country honorably in the United States Air Force and worked as a Supervisor Supply Tech for 32 years at Fort Benning. He was a member of the Lumpkin United Methodist Church. Rhea loved and enjoyed life. Nothing made him happier that sitting on his porch and talking to his friends about life, now and in the past. He was an avid Braves fan and loved Westerns on TV but his "Dawgs" were at the top of the list. Rhea is survived by his granddaughter and her husband, Heather and Eric Todd of Cordele; his dear friends, Karen Futrell, Kevin Sumner and Leslie and Carol Todd; and his furbaby and constant companion, Bella Rue.
