Sandra Babb "Sandy" Worthington

Sandra "Sandy" Worthington (Babb), 84, of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, surrounded by love and family.
Born in Twelve Mile, Indiana, to Junior and Ilene Babb (Reed), Sandy was known for her razor-sharp wit, no-nonsense attitude, and tender heart, especially when it came to animals. She spoke her mind, stood her ground, and could cut to the heart of a conversation with a single line. Her love for politics kept her sharp, and her love for animals kept her soft.
Sandy had a deep love for books, rarely seen without something to read close by. She also had a true gift for bargain hunting-especially when it came to clothes and shoes. In fact, she owned enough shoes to outfit a small village, and she was proud of it. Whether she was curling up with a good novel or scoring an unbeatable deal, Sandy embraced life with curiosity, enthusiasm, and found joy in the little things.
In her early years, Sandy worked and retired from General Motors. Never one to sit still for long, she later went on to work-and retire again-from Blue Chip Casino. She brought humor, hard work, and heart to everything she did.
Sandy is survived by her three children: Kerry, Michael (Tamara), and Shanna. She was a devoted grandmother to Brittany (David), Mandi (Nick), Sadie, Amy, and Bryan; and her five great-grandchildren: Koy, Eli, Alaina, Ava, and Joseph; and her beloved dogs, Jack and Little Lady.
Also surviving are her brother, David (Lisa); her sister, Donna; and several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be remembered fondly by several dear friends whose lives she touched deeply with her honesty, humor, and kindness.
She lived life with grit, humor, and heart. Whether passionately debating current events, cracking a dry joke that made everyone laugh, or spoiling her beloved pets, she stayed true to herself until the very end.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 17th, at Krueger Memorial Hall from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Michigan City, Indiana. Family and friends are invited to come share memories, laughter, and love as we honor the remarkable woman she was.
