It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rhoda Leopando Bartolome, who left us peacefully on September 12th, 2024, while surrounded by loved ones. Born on August 20th, 1965 in Noveleta, Philippines to Romeo Leopando and Adelia Pangco, Rhoda attended and graduated from St. Mary Magdalene High School in 1981. She then went on to attend and graduate from the University of the East with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics in 1985.
Upon arriving in the United States she worked at the San Diego International Airport for LSG Sky Chefs while studying for her board exam to be a Registered Dietitian. Becoming a devoted Registered Dietician for the American Red Cross WIC program in 1996, she was promoted to Service Area Manager in 1999. She spent over 20 years enriching the lives of others, always offering a listening ear and wise counsel before retiring this year.
Outside of work, she loved to bake, shop for great deals, and attend Sunday Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church, her and her family's home church since moving to California in 1995. She also spent time tending to their calamansi and guava trees and cleaning the house which she found therapeutic. She found joy in the simple moments, whether it was sharing a meal with family, taking a walk around their neighborhood, or lending a helping hand and praying for those in need.
Rhoda is survived by her husband Gregorio Bartolome Jr.; children Camille (Emil-Jon) Chavarria and Jerome Bartolome; siblings Rene Leopando, Riza (Rey) Tomas with their child Allen Manguiat, Randolph (Maryrose) Leopando with their children Marysa Rose and Romeo Andrew, and Ryan Leopando; and grandchild Santiago Bartolome Chavarria. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love, compassion, and strength will live on in the hearts of those touched by her life.
A celebration of Rhoda's life will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2024, and Monday, September 30, 2024, at California Burial Chapel, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Beloved daughter, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, auntie, great auntie, cousin, and friend of many - Rhoda will be remembered for her boundless kindness, unshakable integrity, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends.
Rest in peace, dear Rhoda. You will never be forgotten.

Rhoda is a very dear friend of ours since our high school days until the day she returned to our Lord. Countless fond memories we shared with her, she was nice to everyone, ready to give a helping hand, ready to laugh with all her heart with all the jokes thrown. Magaling din siyang mag kwento, with full of actions and emotions. Ika nga magaling mag Maritess.
When my husband died 10 years back, she said that I was so strong to be able to bear the pain, but when she got ill, i said to myself, iam not strong enough as compared to you. I salute you dear friend. Ikaw na ang mas malakas, mas matibay ang faith, mas blessed. Farewell to you my friend, we'll see each other again. Salamat sa lahat. You made everybody happy. Now the angels rejoice in heaven for you belong to them now. So long. Love you.
