Rhoda Gamerman Bennett

Rhoda Bennett passed peacefully at her home on December 13, 2023 after a long illness. She was 87 years old and had been married to her beloved Arthur for 66 years.
Rhoda was a teacher in Montgomery County Public Schools for over 30 years. Mrs. Bennett's English classes were well known as both challenging and rewarding for students. After retiring from teaching, she became a tutor for college placement exams, tutoring students and her grandchildren alike. It was often difficult to tell who was more proud of a good score, the student or Rhoda.
Rhoda met Arthur Bennett when they were in high school in Baltimore. They were married in 1957 and he was her rock and everlasting love. They moved to Potomac in the early 1960s and raised three children, Cheryl, Jeffrey, and Laurie. Summers were spent in Bethany Beach and vacations were spent on cruise ships as often as possible.
Rhoda had a big heart, an impeccable fashion sense, and a bottomless belief in each and every one of the students she taught or tutored over the years. She will be missed by all.
Rhoda is survived by her husband, Arthur Bennett, her three children, Cheryl (Bill) Batleman, Jeffrey (Denise) Bennett, and Laurie (Steve) Augustino, and by four grandchildren. She also is survived by two of her three sisters, Judy (Marc) Lipchin and Marcia (Jeffrey) Levenson.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 15 at 11 am at Congregation Har Shalom in Potomac, MD, followed by a burial at Judean Memorial Gardens in Olney, MD. The family will receive family and friends in Shiva at Laurie's house (8008 Lions Crest Way, Gaithersburg, MD) on Sunday (after 1), Monday (after 10) and Tuesday (after 10).
Memorial donations can be made to Congregation Har Shalom, where the Bennetts were founding members, to JSSA Homecare Services, which provided loving care in her final years, or to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
