Mrs. Rhudine "Audrey" Bethune Odom peacefully transitioned from this life on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. A Memorial Service celebrating Audrey's life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606, with Rev. Rhudine ''Audrey'' Bethune was born on January 13, 1951, in Tampa, Florida, to Ada Joe Bethune and Douglas Heard. She was affectionately known as "Mommie".
Audrey accepted Christ at a young age and was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of West Tampa, while also fellowshipping with several local churches throughout the years.
Audrey was a proud graduate of Howard W. Blake High School, Class of 1968, where she shined as the Head Cheerleader. She continued her education at Hillsborough Community College and briefly attended Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.
Her passion for people, fun, and togetherness made her a bright light to everyone who knew her. As a proud resident of Carver City, Audrey embraced everyone she met with open arms and a warm smile.
Audrey, a devoted member of the Order of Eastern Star, Free & Modern Masons for 40 years, had a deep love for her community. She was also a loyal fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and shared her team spirit by serving as a Greeter at Raymond James Stadium. Her joy and enthusiasm were felt by all who entered the stadium.
Audrey's life was a reflection of joy, strength, and love. Her laughter, kindness, unwavering spirit and devotion were a testament to her trust in God and her unwavering care for her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Ada Joe Bethune and Douglas Heard; brother, Ronald Bethune; sister, Deborah Murphy; and beloved grandson, Vetallion "Tally" Odom.
Audrey leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy: her daughters, Dr. Erika N. Bethune, Racquel L. Odom, and Nyree J. Odom; son, Marlin D. Odom; granddaughters, Heavynli F. Lane, Courtney C. Bethune, and Sue Marie Anglin; grandsons, Lancinet Stevens Jr. and Parrish Bethune; and great-granddaughters, Da'Onni Odom, London Stephens, and Lannette Stephens; loving sister, Sylvia Salters; cousins, Joseph Bethune (Mary), Alvin Freeny (Cheryl), and Eddye Freeny; God daughters, Shevonne Johnson, Nicole Hudson, and Veronte Bradley; nieces, Verdressa Marshall and Abeba Salter and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and many dear friends who will miss her deeply.
