Ricardo Rodriguez was called by the Lord on November 22, 2024, at the age of 66. He was born to Jesus B. Rodriguez and Carmen Arzola on January 20, 1958 in El Paso, TX. He was a proud graduate of Ysleta High School (Once an Indian, Always an Indian). As a proud U.S. Marine, Ricardo served his country with distinction, notably as a range coach, where he trained fellow Marines with the same dedication and discipline that defined his life. Ricardo married the love of his life Maria Guadalupe in 1979 and had three children. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family without measure.
His commitment to service didn’t end with his military career. He was a school bus driver for 30 years, touching the lives of and motivating countless young students. Ricardo encouraged these children to dream big, work hard, and reach for the stars. His kind heart and words of wisdom will be fondly remembered by the many students who were inspired by him.
Ricardo had an enormous love for life. He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, playing poker and sports with family, listening to music, watching Raider football, and enjoying nature. Ricardo’s warmth, generosity, and sense of humor touched everyone he met. He was an advocate for those who couldn’t speak for themselves and was the kind of person who never hesitated to lend a hand to those in need, whether they were family, friends, or strangers.
Ricardo is survived by his loving wife, Maria Guadalupe, his children Rebecca Shiel (Joshua), Ricardo Rodriguez II (Brenda), Kathleen Rodriguez (CJ); his grandchildren Isabella, Juliet, Ricardo III, Brielle-Jolie; his siblings, Petra, Carmen, Mariaelena, Javier, Margarita, Consuelo, Lourdes; and several nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will take place from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM, with a Rosary at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, December 04, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Homes -East, 750 N. Carolina.
