Ricardo Ramirez Vargas, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, at the age of 63.
Born on March 27, 1962, to Pablo Vargas and Celia Ramirez, Ricardo grew up surrounded by family. As a young boy, he moved with his family to the Pacific Northwest, a place that would become his lifelong home.
Ricardo spent much of his life in Oregon, living in Lebanon from 2008 to 2020 before settling in Jefferson. He worked diligently for the City of Lebanon, where his dedication and strong work ethic earned him recognition in the city’s “Employee Heart to Heart” feature. Alongside his brother, Ricardo also operated a yard service for many years work he took great pride in, not only for the labor itself but for the time it allowed him to spend with family.
Ricardo found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. He had a passion for fishing, especially along the Salmon River, a place that held special memories for three generations of the Vargas family. He also enjoyed collecting rocks, a hobby that reflected his appreciation for nature’s quiet beauty. Above all, Ricardo cherished time with his family especially his grandchildren, with whom he shared laughter, love, and his love of the outdoors.
He is survived by his children, Zebadiah Vargas, Aubrey Vargas, and Rayne McCoy; his grandchildren, Zebadiah Vargas Jr., Teigen Vargas, Rio Vargas, Riley Vargas, and Stanley Bobbitt; and his siblings, Sarah Bryant, Sally Fernandez, Eva Sparks, Lucy Vargas, Felix Vargas, Jesse Vargas, and Martin Vargas. Ricardo was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Celia, and siblings Roger, Alfred, Ema, Evelyn, Olga Rita, and Paul, Jr..
Ricardo’s life was one marked by hard work, quiet strength, and devotion to family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
