Richard Michael Allen, 82, of White Plains, Maryland, died on October 12, 2024 at the Above & Beyond Care Facility in Waldorf, Maryland.
Born on April 8, 1942 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Paul Clifton and Dorothy Allen.
Mr. Allen graduated from Suitland High School in 1960. He joined the US Air Force on October 19, 1962, as an Airman First Class and was stationed in Mountain Home, Idaho. Upon his honorable discharge in 1966, Mr. Allen went to work for the Potomac Electric Power Company (PEPCO) as a Relay Tester. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, woodworking and spending time with family and friends. He loved a good joke, even at his own expense. He had enormous empathy when it came to supporting his grandchildren along with veteran organizations.
Mr. Allen was preceded by his wife of 43 years, Linda Rae Grooms Allen and his late sister Jean Marie. He is survived by his brother Paul Allen; sons Richard M. Allen Jr. and his wife Margaret, George C. Grooms II and his wife Karen; grandchildren Lucas Michael Allen and Lillian Margaret Allen, Justin Allen Grooms, Brenna Rae Grooms.
A private service and interment will be held at a later date in Greene County, Pennsylvania.
