Richard Apel

Richard Gayle Apel, age 59, went to be with the Lord on June 17, 2023. He was a beloved father, brother, and a great friend. Richard was a graduate of the University of Texas, a talented baseball player and played through his college years. He loved to talk sports; and fishing was a favorite pastime. Being a Christian, Richard also shared about his faith in the Lord. He is and will be dearly missed.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Valla Gene Apel.
Survivors include his children, Tristan, Spencer, Quinn, Tate, and his former wife, LaSchell Apel; siblings, Mike and Susan Apel, Vernon and Sharon Gardner, Charles and Joyce Apel, and Kenneth and Lisa Apel; in addition to a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday July 8, 2023 at Harrell Funeral Home in Austin. Graveside services will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Pearl Cemetery in Pearl.
