Richard E. Arries, age 77, of Simpsonville, SC, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.
Born March 31, 1948, in Kenosha, WI, he was a son of the late Rodney O. Arries and Florence Roach Arries. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Roland Arries, Michael Arries, and Dawn Arries.
Richard made the military his career serving in the United States Air Force as a Firefighter, retiring after 20 years. He then continued in civilian service on the Air Force Base in Grand Forks, ND, for many years to follow. He was a member of Harvest Anglican Church.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Pamela Dost Arries; son, Rev. Christopher Arries and his wife Gayle of Pendleton, SC; daughter, Rev. Suzy Sullivan and her husband Corey of Greer, SC; 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Travis Abercrombie and Rev. Christopher Arries officiating. The family will receive friends in the Chapel prior to the service beginning at 12:00 pm. A committal will be held at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harvest Anglican Church, 1636 Bethel Rd., Simpsonville, SC 29681.
