Richard Jay Arthur

Richard Jay Arthur, 81, of Huntington, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born November 27, 1943 in Huntington, W.Va. a son of the late Clifford and Irene Gibson Arthur. He retired from the City of Huntington. Also preceding him in death was his daughter, Karen Arthur Johnson; two sisters, Bonnie Meinking and Betty Semon; two brothers, Billy Arthur and David Arthur; and one son-in-law, Jeffrey Perry. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joyce Arthur. Three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Arthur Perry, Barbara Arthur Hunter (Michael), Sherry Arthur May (Michael); son in law, Roy Johnson; three grandchildren, Amanda Rose Smith (Ronald), Austin Hunter (Alison), Olivia Hunter; three great grandchildren, Landon Smith, Liam Smith, and Braylen Rose Hunter all of Huntington. Two sisters-in-law, Mary Arthur and Helen Collins (John); one special niece Mary Messina of Georgia; one lifelong long friend Jessie Marcum; and a hose of friends and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 1 pm at the Reger Funeral Chapel, Huntington. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
