Richard Ault Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, Craven Chapel on Jan. 16, 2026.
Richard E. "Rick" Ault, age 68 of Cardington, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Marion General Hospital.
He was born on July 27, 1957 to Clarence Eugene Ault and Lucille Agnes Gregory in Marion, OH. He married the love of his life, Holly Jean Reffett, on January 19, 1979 in Marysville, and together, they spent almost 47 years together; all full of love, family, and memories.
Rick was a "jack of all trades." There wasn't a single thing that he didn't know how to do, because if he didn't know how to do it, he'd figure it out. No matter when or why his kids or grandkids would call him for help, he would answer and be on his way. He never knew a stranger in life, always helping those who needed him, which explains why he loved his time working as a tow truck driver for AAA, helping people he'd never met before. He had a heart of gold, always giving and never expecting anything in return.
He loved old cars and motorcycles, and really, anything with an engine. Messing with things in his garage brought him joy, tinkering with anything and everything. He also loved his critters, the ones inside and out.
Rick will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Holly Ault; children: Stacy (Bruce) Shockley, and Stephanie (Brian Sandusky) Ault; grandchildren: Amanda, Eric, Faith, Chase, Hannah, David, Daniel, and Joey; 6 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bruce Landon. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his children: Rebecca McLaughlin and Jessica Ault; his parents, Clarence Ault and Lucille Gregory; and sister, Tina Gersper.
Services for Rick will be held on Thursday, January 29th, 2026 at Fulton Cemetery. Military honors will begin promptly at 11 AM. A memorial gathering will take place at the Canaan Township Hall, 2170 State Route 95, Edison, OH 43320, beginning at 12 Noon.
