Richard P. Bailey, age 94, of Conroe, passed away July 17th. He was born May 14, 1931, in Salt Lake City, Utah to the late Edgar F. Bailey and Marion Phillips Bailey. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Nell Marie Munson, and his nephew Eric Van Orman.
He is survived by his wife, Marzie; daughters, Rebecca Lambert (Lance), Christine Bailey, and Katharine Bailey; grandchildren, Alyssa Lambert, Amanda Lambert, Jeff Smith (Kristin), and Kevin Smith (Cassie); great-grandchildren Ashley, Sterling, Clara, Kurtis, and Kooper; sister Suzanne Bailey Van Orman; and nephews Brad Van Orman, John Van Orman, Philip Munson, and Jon Munson.
While attending the University of Utah pursuing a degree in journalism, he was called to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. After being honorably discharged he returned to Salt Lake City and pursued and completed a Mechanical Engineering degree at Westminster College and became a registered Professional Engineer (P.E). During his engineering career he worked for Chicago Bridge & Iron, Honeywell, and Bechtel specializing in instrumentation and controls for boilers. Before retiring, he branched out on his own forming CPI Systems, a company specializing in building control panels for boilers at industrial plants.
Richard was active in the Methodist Church, serving as Chairman of the Building Committee at Spring Woods Methodist Church, and on the Administrative Board and Worship Committee at First United Methodist Church in downtown Houston. He also served on several committees of the Adelphi Sunday School Class where he met his second wife, Marzie.
A "Jack-of-all-trades" Richard could build or fix most anything. He loved to tinker in the garage and had numerous tools in his shop. He loved to garden, grow veggies, and make wine. He also loved to grill on the back porch and was constantly searching for the best sauce recipe ("it needs something"). He and Marzie enjoyed traveling to many vacation spots including Hawaii and Germany as well as spending time on the beach at their condo in Galveston.
Richard will be remembered for a lifetime of service to his country and his church and his dedication to his family. He had a soft spot for Blue Bell ice cream and peanut clusters and an unwavering love for his BBQ grill.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, July 23rd, at 11AM at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 West Main Street,
Tomball, Texas 77375. Interment to follow in Klein Memorial Park, 32539 State Highway 249 Access Road, Pinehurst, Texas 77355 with Bishop Bob Hayes officiating.

Alzheimer's Association (alz.org).
