Richard Duane Barbier, age 65, of Flint, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at home surrounded by his family. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Brad Foster will preside. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until the time of service Tuesday. Following the memorial service a celebration of life will take place at 1:00 PM at Legends Bar and Grill, 3235 W. Thompson Rd. Fenton.
Richard was born on July 14, 1959 in Cuyahoga, Ohio to the late Duane and Shirley (Wyckoff) Barbier. He graduated from Swartz Creek High School, class of 1978. Richard continued his education at Highland Park Community College, obtaining his associates degree. He also played basketball for Highland Park and McNeese State colleges. Richard and Kim Baird were united in marriage on October 8, 1994 in Flint. He worked for Fast Eddie’s and Letavis Enterprises for 26 years as a Manager until his retirement. Richard loved spending time with his family, going camping and more recently his true joy in life his granddaughters. In his free time, Richard enjoyed watching Pistons' basketball, Lions' football and the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Kim; children, Ashley (Mike) Bondarenko and Dakota Barbier; granddaughters, Peyton and Rylie; and siblings, Jacqueline Kakstis, Sandra (Ronald) Wiens and Steven Barbier. He is further survived by several nieces, nephews and 6 great nieces In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Barbier. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Letavis family and the Swan Hospice team. Contributions can be made to Swan Hospice in memory of Richard.
