Richard M. Bard, III, was born in New Orleans on September 21, 1946, raised in Bogalusa, Louisiana and died in San Antonio, Texas on November 3, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his parents Richard Morgan Bard, Jr. and Anna Lucille (nee Augustine) Bard; brother Randall Paul Bard; and grandnephew Ethan Bard.

He is survived by his life partner, Carmen Castillo; sisters, Diana Bard Lovelace and Freida Bard Lampkin (Greg); brothers, Robert L. Bard and Ralph E. Bard; nieces Shannon Seiver Stuart (James) and Amanda Hester (Mike); nephews Shane Bard (Veronica) and Chad Bard; grandnieces, Deyana Sevin (Christopher) ; Morgan Hagan, Evelyn Stuart, Emma Hester and Ella Hester; and grandnephews, Thomas Seiver and Xander Bard.

He earned his Business degree from The University of Southeastern Louisiana. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Communication Specialist aboard the U.S.S.L.Y. Spear and Commander Submarine Atlantic, Norfolk, Virginia

He worked for a number of years in the construction industry for Jacobs Engineering; worked for a family-owned business in Louisiana for Livingston Wood Products; and eventually retired from the College of Pharmacy, The University of Texas at Austin.

Richard was active in multiple ministries at St. Matthews Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas in the service of his fellow parishioners.

Visitation will be at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 720 East Beach Boulevard, Long Beach, Mississippi on Monday, November 24, 2025 from 10:00 – 10:30 am; recitation of the rosary at 10:30 a.m.; followed by mass at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in Gulf Pines Mausoleum at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens 19361 29th Street, Long Beach MS 39560.

For those of you unable to attend these services, they will be live streamed on the Bradford O’Keefe website.
