Richard Bartlett passed away peacefully on Monday November 17, 2025 surrounded by the love of his family and friends, especially his wife and soul mate, Tami Snell Bartlett. Richard is now with his mother, Barbara Bartlett and brother Bruce Bartlett.
He leaves a hole in the hearts of those who survive him: his father Carl Bartlett, his wife Tami Bartlett, sister Cheryl Wiley (David), brother Gerard Bartlett (Betsabe) his sons Hunter Bartlett and Harlee Bartlett (Christine Jaremko), grandson Jaxon Tanner Bartlett. His step-son Tyler Jamison (Emily Jamison), step-daughter Megan Smith and grand daughters Keelin, Kaliyah, and Kaiya, his nephews Travis Bartlett and Max Bartlett, his former spouse, Connie Bartlett, many loving family members including his close-knit group of cousins and so many wonderful friends from every phase of his life.
Richard, a certified Merchant Mariner, had a remarkable career spanning marine captaincy and ship engineering. His exceptional engineering skills were complemented by his warm and generous nature, which was evident in his extensive network of friends along the eastern seaboard.
Richard, inspired by his older brother Bruce, pursued commercial fishing. He eventually became the captain of a commercial long-line fishing vessel. Prior to that he worked in the sport fishing industry.
Richard honed his engineering skills in the machine shop at McAllister Towing under the guidance of his father, Carl. Many of his engineering abilities were self-taught, with Carl playing a significant role in shaping his expertise.
Richard was chief marine engineer for Boston Marine Transport for 35 years. His exceptional mechanical aptitude made him one of the most sought-after marine diesel technical engineers.
In his free time, Richard cherished taking his family and friends on adventures on his beloved 28-foot boat, "Guide On." We will deeply miss Rich's infectious laughter and his unbridled enthusiasm for being on the ocean.
