Port Leyden- Richard O. Baslow, 76, husband of Joan, affectionately known as Dick, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at the Lewis County Extended Care Facility, Lowville, following a brief illness. Richard was born on July 17, 1939 in Bristol, Vermont, a son of Stewart and Nina Downey Baslow. As a child he moved with his parents to Lyons Falls, where he received his education. On April 4, 1959 Richard was united in marriage with Joan Kornatowski at St. Martin's Church, Port Leyden. Following their marriage the couple settled on Lincoln St., Port Leyden, where they have since lived. Dick was employed for several local companies including Burrows Paper, Lyonsdale, Denslow Equipment Co., Inc. Boonville, G.E. Hutchins Trucking Co., Boonville, and Frank Hunkins Well Drilling, Lyonsdale. He was also employed as a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Leyden. Richard was of the Catholic faith, and a member of St. Martin's Church. Besides his wife Joan, he is survived by two sons: Richard (Rhonda), and David, all of Port Leyden; two daughters: Joanne Williams, Glenfield, and Angela Baslow, Port Leyden. Richard was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Lynn Baslow on December 24, 2001. Also surviving are several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his brothers, Robert and Roy. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewis County Extended Care Facility, 7785 North State Street, Lowville, New York 13367.
