Richard Bauling Obituary

Richard Bauling

Richard Alan Bauling passed away suddenly, on March 16, after a two year struggle with multiple myeloma and amyloidosis (heart disease). Surviving him are his loving family: sons Riley (Leah) and granddaughter Stella, and Zach (Katherine) and granddaughter Beatrice, sisters Barbara Reeback (Del Packwood) and Ronni Roper (Tom), nephew Adam Reeback, nieces Meredith Reeback, Tracy and Stephanie Roper, and loving friend Charlotte Ortega. Richard was born August 6, 1951 in New Rochelle NY, to Phyllis and Irving. He arrived in Albuquerque with his childhood buddies to finish college and ski, in 1970. Always the athlete, "Richie" was a Little League star, then swam and played slow-pitch softball for years. He became an enthusiastic Little League coach for his own boys' teams, cheered them at soccer games, and perfected their golf games along with his own. He found his true calling as a gifted and devoted fourth and fifth grade teacher, at Alamosa and Griegos Schools. "Mr.B" enriched student learning with daily running, frequent personal notes and occasional aerobics and dancing. Finally retired, he dedicated himself to his favorite sport, golf. Richard would ask you to support your local elementary school teachers. Please join us at a gathering for friends and family Saturday, May 13, 2-4 pm at Paradise Hills Golf Course, 11035 Country Club Ln NW. In his memory, consider a donation to the Notah Begay III Foundation (encouraging youth sports): https://www.nb3foundation.org/donate-2.

Richie was my closest friend in elementary school, actually starting at Ann Segals preschool. We drifted apart over the years but still heartbroken to hear of his early passing. Rest in peace.

Many happy memories of Sunday mornings (and more) at the UNM North course. He loved the game and enjoyed sharing it with others. His enthusiasm and good nature will stay with us always.

I just found out about Richard's passing, and wanted to give ny condolences. He and I taught together at Griegos Elementary School in ABQ, NM, for a good number of years, and I remember him fondly.

Mr. B.
I´ve remembered him my entire life.
Alamosa Elementary School. Albuquerque.
Fourth grade, circa 1975 ish. Everybody loved Mr. B! I remember all the students loving him! Mr. B got everybody excited about learning. On Wednesdays we sold Oreo cookies, pickles, popcorn, from our barracks classroom to raise money for projects, I guess. I don´t remember that part.
He always brought his dog to school too. But back then, Mr. B sported, long locks of brown hair. He was a hippie. He rocked! Mr. B made you feel safe at school, and that he cared about you.
I am sorry for your loss.
My deepest condolences

I am sorry to hear of Mr. Bauling's passing. My son, Antonio was in one of Mr. Bauling's class. He was a really good, attentive teacher. Also, he was very funny. He made all his students feel special. I'm sure he's still teaching all of us to be the best we can.
